Best-of list
Best Robotic Pool Cleaners for In-Ground Pools (2026)
In-ground pools have steep walls, deep ends and steps, so robots need climbing power, coverage and good navigation. These are our picks from published specs, tester findings and owner reports.

Our verdict
The Beatbot Sora 30 is the best in-ground robot for most pools: up to 5 hours on the floor, four roller brushes and two ultrasonic sensors. For a corded robot, choose the Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus; for the most automation, the Aiper Scuba X1 Pro Max.
In-ground pools are where robots work hardest: tall walls to climb, a deep end, steps and a main drain to get past. We ranked these on makers' published specs, independent reviews and owner reports using our scoring method; we did not test them ourselves.
What matters for in-ground pools
- Wall and waterline cleaning. Algae and scum collect on walls and at the water's edge. All our picks climb walls; the Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus doesn't scrub the waterline.
- Pool size and runtime. Match the robot's rating to your floor area, and check runtime covers it: up to 5 hours on the Sora 30, about 3 hours on the Aiper X1 and V3.
- Obstacles. Steps, ladders and main drains trap robots without sensors. The Sora 30, Aiper X1, X1 Pro Max and V3 have obstacle detection.
- Weight. You lift the robot out over the coping; the X1 Pro Max weighs about 33 lb.
Corded or cordless?
Cordless is easier day to day; corded never runs out of power and has no battery to age. Read cordless vs corded if you're undecided.
