Aiper Scuba X1 Pro Max

9.0/10 research score Cordless

Best for: Large in-ground pools where you want the least hands-on work

Our verdict

On paper, nothing cordless we cover does more: four cleaning areas, the strongest suction, mapping and a wireless dock. In practice it weighs about 33 lb, the app needs the paid HydroComm Pro to reach it underwater, and testers found skimming and wall cleaning less impressive than the specs. Buy it for large in-ground pools if budget isn't a concern.

The Scuba X1 Pro Max is Aiper's flagship and one of the most feature-packed cordless robots available. We have not tested it ourselves. This review combines Aiper's published specs with four independent hands-on reviews (our method).

Key specs

  • Cleans: water surface, floor, walls, waterline and elevated platforms, in pools up to 3,230 sq ft
  • Suction: 8,500 GPH, nine brushless motors, front and rear rollers
  • Filter: 5 L top-load basket, 180 µm plus 3 µm MicroMesh
  • Runtime: up to 5 hours on the floor, 10 hours skimming; charging: about 4 hours on a wireless dock
  • Navigation: FlexiPath 2.0 with ultrasonic mapping (40 sensors), anti-fall and debris detection
  • Weight: about 33 lb dry (The Pool Nerd's review)

What reviewers liked

CyberShack praised having one device for floor, walls, tile line and surface, and its navigation. Boss Hunting liked the build quality, charging dock and app. Digital Trends highlighted the design, battery life and cleaning performance.

What reviewers didn't

  • Weight. All four reviews list lifting it out as a downside; The Pool Nerd called it a workout at 33 lb dry.
  • Uneven extras. Boss Hunting found wall cleaning underperformed and Digital Trends rated skimming poor, despite the specs.
  • Paid add-ons. Without the optional HydroComm Pro, the app can't reach the robot underwater. Prices quoted by reviewers vary widely by country and bundle.

Who should buy it

Buy it for a large in-ground pool where you want the most automation and budget isn't the main concern. If you want four-in-one cleaning that's lighter and cheaper, compare the Beatbot Sora 70.

Bottom line

The X1 Pro Max is the most capable cordless robot in our catalog on paper. Testers confirm its power and polish but also its weight and a few areas where it doesn't match its specs. It's a premium choice, not an automatic one.

Leaves clog small baskets and sink before most robots reach them. These robots skim the surface or carry large baskets, so they keep up with leafy pools.
