The short answer

Beatbot is the better choice for most owners who want no cable: the Sora 30 runs up to 5 hours, cleans the waterline and is listed for above-ground pools too. Choose Dolphin if you want a corded robot with no battery to wear out: the Nautilus CC Plus finishes a pool in a 2-hour cycle every time.

Beatbot and Dolphin approach pool robots from opposite ends. Beatbot is a newer brand focused on cordless robots with big batteries. Dolphin, made by Maytronics, built its reputation on corded robots powered through a floating cable. We compare them on the makers' published specifications (how we research).

The short answer

  • Cordless, long runtime: Beatbot Sora 30 (or the Sora 70 if you want skimming).
  • Corded, no battery to age: Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus.
  • Dolphin without a cable: Liberty 400, if your pool is up to 33 ft long.

Power and runtime

Beatbot's Sora robots are rated for up to 5 hours on the floor from a 10,000 mAh battery and recharge in about 4.5 hours. Dolphin's Nautilus CC Plus runs a 2-hour default cycle on mains power, so it never stops for a flat battery and can run again straight away. See cordless vs corded for the full trade-off.

Cleaning areas

Every Sora cleans the floor, walls and waterline, and the Sora 70 also skims the surface. Maytronics lists the Nautilus CC Plus for floor and walls, with waterline scrubbing marked "no". The cordless Liberty 400 does clean the waterline.

Pool types

Beatbot lists the Sora range for above-ground and in-ground pools in all common shapes and surfaces. Dolphin's Nautilus CC Plus and Liberty 400 are in-ground robots; its above-ground option is the floor-only E10.

Filters and maintenance

Beatbot's baskets are large (5.2 L on the Sora 30, 6 L on the Sora 70) with a 150 µm standard filter and an optional 3 µm basket. Dolphin's top-load fine filter lifts out without touching the debris; Maytronics doesn't publish its micron rating.

Warranty

Beatbot: 2 years on the Sora 10 and 30, 3 years on the Sora 70. Dolphin: 2 years on the Nautilus CC Plus and E10; the Australian brochure lists 3 years for the Liberty 400.

Beatbot

Beatbot Sora 30

Best for: Large pools with walls that need real scrubbing

Dolphin

Best for: In-ground pools where reliability matters more than smart features

Verdict

If you want to drop a robot in without a cable and have it run for hours, Beatbot wins. If you'd rather have a robot that runs on mains power for years without a battery to replace, Dolphin's corded Nautilus CC Plus is still a dependable choice.

Frequently asked questions

Is Beatbot or Dolphin better?

For a cordless robot, Beatbot's Sora series offers longer published runtime (up to 5 hours) and waterline cleaning. For a corded robot that never runs flat and has no battery to replace, Dolphin's Nautilus CC Plus is the safer choice.

Does Dolphin make cordless robots?

Yes, the Liberty series. The Liberty 400 cleans floor, walls and waterline of in-ground pools up to 33 ft long and charges by induction.

Which works in above-ground pools?

Beatbot lists every Sora model for above-ground pools. Dolphin's above-ground robot is the corded E10, which cleans the floor only.

Robotic vs Suction Pool Cleaners: Which Is Worth It?

Suction cleaners are cheap to buy but run on your pool pump; robots cost more but clean walls, filter their own debris and use little power. We compare cost, cleaning and upkeep.
