Our verdict

The Beatbot Sora 10 is the best robot we found under $500 on sale: 5 hours of runtime and floor, wall and waterline cleaning. The WYBOT C2 is close behind with finer filtration. For a small above-ground pool, the WYBOT A1 or Aiper Scuba SE cleans the floor for very little.

"Under $500" is about what you'd actually pay, so we went by the price on each maker's own store on October 16, 2026, and show the list price too. Prices change; the buttons show the current offer. Picks are ranked on published specs and our method; we did not test them ourselves.

What you get, and what you don't

At this price you can get floor, wall and waterline cleaning, app control and a 2-hour-plus runtime. You don't get surface skimming, mapping or a wireless dock. Warranties are 1 to 2 years: the WYBOT A1 and B1 have 1 year, the C1, C2 and Sora 10 have 2.

Pick by pool

  • In-ground or above-ground pool up to about 3,200 sq ft: Beatbot Sora 10.
  • Fine dust or sand: WYBOT C2, for its 10 µm second filter.
  • Small pool that needs walls cleaned: WYBOT B1.
  • Small flat above-ground pool, floor only: Aiper Scuba SE or WYBOT A1.

Frequently asked questions

Are cheap robotic pool cleaners worth it?

Yes, if they match your pool. Robots under $500 now clean walls and the waterline (Beatbot Sora 10, WYBOT C1 and C2). The cheapest models clean the floor only, which still saves vacuuming in small above-ground pools.

What do you give up under $500?

Usually surface skimming, mapping sensors, wireless charging and the longest warranties. Robots here have 1 to 2-year warranties.

Why are list prices higher than sale prices?

Makers often list a higher regular price and sell below it for long periods. We show both, with the date we checked.

Comparison

Robotic vs Suction Pool Cleaners: Which Is Worth It?

Suction cleaners are cheap to buy but run on your pool pump; robots cost more but clean walls, filter their own debris and use little power. We compare cost, cleaning and upkeep.
